Maintenance and repair


Planned maintenance such as a programme of replacing equipment such as lamps, luminaires and batteries before they fail.

Reactive maintenace provided for all equipment that has a limit to its usefull working life; a brief guide is provided here

  • Replace lamps and luminaires
  • replace damaged cables
  • check electrical load
  • check the suitability of equipment
  • replace damaged equipment such as socket outlets switches, dimmers and isolators
  • upgrade distribution boards and units
  • test smoke alarms
  • set heating controls, room thermostats and optimisers
  • check motion detectors
  • replace high level lighting
  • disconnection of unused equipment.
  • emergency lighting test and inspection
  • replace batteries in smoke, heat and burglar alarms
  • source instructions and guides
  • reset alarms

Equipment that is suitable for the environment, installed by skilled persons using the methods described in the appropriate guidance literature/instructions and to the IEE Wiring Regulations, maintenace will be more proactive and less reactive .
